City Council Meeting Tonight 7:30pm
Dear Fellow LF Activist(s),
Tonight at 7:30PM, the City Council has their regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Although 27W isn’t an agenda item, this is the ideal venue to voice our collective concerns about the 27W petitioner getting a building permit issued without the BRB’s follow up to our requests or their recommendations for a secondary review and analysis of the petitioner’s engineering plans submitted to various agencies.
According to the City Engineer and Director of Community Development in their petitioner approval memo to the BRB members prior to the July 6 meeting, the LCSMC letter to the City dated 5/6/11stated “no further action is required by SMC with respect to the isolated wetlands” and “LCSMC has no objection with the City of Lake Forest proceeding with permitting with respect to WDO”.
Why wouldn’t the LCSMC mention any one of the several issues raised in the 5/4/11 Bleck Engineering letter to the BRB specifically citing the WDO application, USACE jurisdictional determination and FEMA CLOMR-F letter’s expiration dates or significant construction design changes from ‘slab-on-grade’ to ‘compensatory storage crawlspace’, since these are claimed to be the material differences to FEMA that a CLOMR-F wouldn’t be necessary. Why wouldn’t LCSMC provide comment on ANY issue raised in the Bleck letter – if they even saw it?
The City Attorney is drafting a hold harmless deed document for the 27W homeowner to sign completely indemnifying the City from any responsibility of adverse damages from future flooding related to the City’s granting of a building permit for a lot not considered eligible for development by 2011 standards.
Although an appeal of the BRB approval decision is being made before the deadline this Wednesday, tonight’s City Council meeting is our chance to put the City on notice that we will not just roll over and let the City sell us down the same river that may eventually destroy our homes.
We hope to see you at City Hall tonight at 7:30!
